Fashion collage

These 2 images are clear and fresh examples of using a collage technique to explain design ideas. Adding textural qualities helps to evoke the feeling of fabric, the way it moves and create focal points within a style. You could try something similar using cut out silhouettes and experiment with fabrics, tissue, paper and layering to get new and different effects. Drawn detail can be added afterwards. Backgrounds should compliment the designs and not distract from your fabulous work. If you are developing a theme for your collection why not try and carry the theme through to the background too?

Photograph all hand worked illustrations in case you are asked for a digital portfolio as one of our students has been asked for tonight.
