DIY tutorial

Above: Stella McCartney Collection

For those still stuck at home and snowbound, why not have a fashion DIY moment. Honestly WTF have a tutorial on transferring artworks onto clothing as a form of textile decoration. This piece has been inspired by Stella McCartney S/S 2011. It is important not to copy. The term used in fashion is 'influenced by' or 'inspired by'. Original ideas and developments from others into something else new are what push fashion forward.

This technique requires a bit of experimentation but is great for sourcebook development and completed garments. This is another featured blog on our side bar. These and other featured websites carry a wealth of information to aid fashion research. Please remember that copyright affects recent artworks so make sure the artists has been dead for 70 years before being influenced. This was extended from 50 years in 1995.

Honestly WTF is a great blog, contributed to by designers and stylists based in NYC, San francisco, LA and Madrid. Check out the bleach, tie dye flares on this week, I know some of you are interested in this type of finish.
