Roisin Ferguson, 23, hails from Lochgelly and is now studying at Heriot Watt University having graduated from Adam Smith College. It is always great to hear about the experiences of students who have progressed to the next stage and Rosy has kindly agreed to share what is currently going on in her fashion life.
Q1. Why did you select the degree programme you are currently studying?
After 2 years of Fashion Design at Adam Smith College, although I loved the research and design aspects of the course, I will be remembered for having a breakdown when faced with patterns and garment construction! For this reason, I decided to look for a degree programme that would be fully fashion based, creative but more involved in getting the fashion message out there. BA Fashion Communication at Heriot Watt fitted that bill exactly for me.
Q2. Could you explain more about the course please?
This degree is a creative mix of photography, film, journalism and styling. We are encouraged by the tutors to take as much responsibility as we can for the direction of our studies and establish our own niche within the fashion community from the start. This means that you only get out of it what you put into it which is daunting but exciting at the same time. If you want to become known and therefore employed or in demand, then it is up to you to make that happen. Blogging and social networking are important if used correctly.
Q3. Can we have a look at your blog?
Please do! I blog as hernameiscupcake
Thanks Rosy. More to come later . . . . .
