Design vs marketing: conflict and dilemma



Our HN 1 discussion groups this week centred on the tension that arises within fashion organisations between the design approach of 'we sell what we can make' or the marketing approach of ' we make what we can sell'.


This pic from the Caroline Herrera show at NY Fashion Week sums it up perfectly. Anna Wintour, US Vogue Editor and singer Niki Minaj are both high profile but don't look too comfortable.
