Shape and Form

Another really inspiring workshop on the IPC course was about shape and form...we were told to identify any shape - geometric or organic, or even just a few lines, and to work with this shape in calico direct on the body form...
I took four large circles and joined them together and then worked with them...this activity was about experimentation and creativity, learning to play with the materials and not to be afraid to make mistake, looking for solutions...


after several options this was my result at the end of the day...we then had to mark up the calico carefully and then take it apart to identify the pattern pieces...


 ...it is interesting to reflect on this activity and to link with "real garments"!..these pieces are from the recent Haider Ackermann collection...
