The Shetland Arts International Textile Festival

Unfortunately I will be heading south, but if you are travelling up north this summer and you are interested in knitting, arts and textiles you might be interested to know about the Shetland Arts International Textile Festival.

The festival is about the contemporary potential and future of textiles, making new connections and learning from textile cultures. Events for the public and textile enthusiasts will be based around an exhibition of contemporary Nordic textile art and a knitting conference In the Loop 3.5 Making Connections.

Freddie Robins

Freddie Robins is one of the key speakers at the conference. Her practice crosses categories of art, craft and design. She uses knitting to explore contemporary issues of the domestic, gender and the human condition as well as cultural preconceptions surrounding the craft of knitting.
