"the infinity of tailoring" Comme des Garcons Fall 2013 RTW

Never for the faint hearted a Comme des Garcons garment challenges the wearer, the viewer and the industry. Designer Rei Kawakubo works with the language of fashion to express her belief in pure creation, in what might be a battle for creativity over the marketing ideas of "the brand".

Things might look like pure decoration - bows, rosettes, bustles, thick shapes, flounces and swathes of fabric, but this is very clever pattern cutting with complex shape built into the nature of the garments.

...and if you are in London over the holiday you should call in to Dover Street Market, a Comme des Garcons stockists - here you can see (and try on!) how the catwalk outfits sit alongside their slightly more subtle "sisters". The workmanship and quality of fabric and manufacture is just exquisite.
