Peter Doig

The relationship between art and fashion is an historic and exciting one. Fashion students who are seeking inspiration, developing and interpreting 'Tropical' and 'Exotic' themes would really benefit from a visit to Edinburgh's National Gallery on Princes Street.

Peter Doig is a contemporary artist with a unique, prolific and eclectic output. Having lived in Scotland, Canada and Trinidad, he melds colour and exotic landscape with figurative elements on huge canvases. There is both a vibrant energy and a quiet stillness to his work with many intriguing and ghostly palms and children throughout. The exhibition is on until 3 November 2013.
