Style Conscience- Mary Quant Dress - Charity Raffle

Interested in winning an original Mary Quant dress?

Maggie McDonald of Style Conscience in Markinch is currently fundraising for Fife Society for the Blind. Tickets to enter the raffle to win the dress are priced at £5.00 each and can be purchased here. Good Luck.

Style Conscience purchased this fabulous Mary Quant dress from one of their customers. It was then raffled at the first event they organised. The winner was a former nurse colleague of the owner Maggie Macdonald and she kindly donated it back to help raise funds for whatever charity Style Conscience was supporting at that time, namely Fife Society for The Blind.
Maggie has visited the V&A Museum in London and had it examined by one of their curators who is sure it is cashmere and probably angora, additionally it is in very good condition and still perfectly wearable today. Being a style from the 1970's it is a bit longer than the iconic minis Mary Quant was famous for in the 60's !
Here is the story from it's original owner
"In the early 70s I was having a wander around the shops in Edinburgh when I saw a sign outside one of the Georgian terraces in the New Town.  It was advertising a designer clothes clearance sale for one day only and was being held in a room in one of the flats rented for the purpose.
Always on the lookout for a bargain, I went in for a browse and spotted the perfect ‘little black dress’.  Just what every woman needs in her wardrobe!  Joy of joy, when I tried it on it fitted perfectly.  I was even more pleased when I noticed the label was Mary Quant, the icon of fashion design in the 1960s so I snapped it up immediately.
Unfortunately I have expanded a little over the ensuing years and sadly, my beautiful dress no longer fits me.  I have found it perfect for every occasion, from weddings and funerals to christenings, parties and meals out.  It’s a dream to wear – light as a feather – and I hope it brings as much pleasure to its next owner as it has to me.  Enjoy! "
