Students Fashion Bandanas for Charity
Colourful bandanas made by Fife College Fashion students have raised funds for Rachel House Children’s Hospice after a flash sale held in College raised £230 in just three hours!
The NC Fashion Design and Manufacture student group held the sale as part of their course combining the Creative Textiles and Display modules of their course with the Enterprise Activity module.
The students enjoyed loads of creative fun designing and making the bandanas and especially enjoyed meeting customers face-to-face for their evaluation and feedback. College staff and students flocked to the stand at the Stenton campus, Glenrothes, to pick up a bargain bandana which in turn has raised funds for Rachel House in Kinross.
Christine Robson, Fashion Lecturer, was delighted with the students’ work and said: “The 100% cotton bandanas were hand folded and dyed by the students using the ancient Japanese Shibori technique and were available for Spring/ Summer 2016 in French Navy, Tulip Red, Flamingo Pink and Tropical Green.
“I’d like thank all those who bantered, negotiated, bought and gave generously with feedback to the students all of which has helped them gain a new set of skills and experience which will help them as they move on to future study or to work. We look forward to presenting Rachel House with the funds raised over the coming weeks.”
