Ann Hardie's Assistants

Students from HND and NC fashion were working hard last night helping with dressing and events management at Ann Hardie's 'Precious' Show.
All were battling with underskirts, pins, labels and laced bodices to ensure everyone and every dress was shown to perfection, helping to create a stunning bridal wear show and a fantastic event.

The Diva Catwalk Show

Sarah Webster's dress
L-R Dresses by Laura Revell and Anna McAvinueBackstage: A collection of LBD's with yoyos, frills, orchids, beading and embroidery as embellishment.

Year 2 HND Fashion Design and Production with Retail students presented the little black dresses they designed and produced last year, as part of The Diva Catwalk Show in aid of Maggies High 5 Campaign, organised by Secret Wardrobe. It was a great event and well supported raising over £700 for Maggies and a great showcase for Fife talent. Special thanks to Sophie McInnes of the Beveridge Park Hotel for inviting us to participate and to Fiona Hogwood for guiding the students within their events unit. A great time was had by all and it was great to see NC, HND year 1 and 2 students all mixing it up together. Thanks to Hazel Terry and Walter Neilson for photography.

HND Fashion Design and Manufacture Show

4 HND Fashion Design and Manufacture students Amber Barclay, Kat Valentine, Miranda Williamson and Fiona McLennan had a very successful show at Picante, Glenrothes last night to showcase their final pieces. There was a wide variety of garments showcased from dynamic dancewear, elegant daywear and dramatic eveningwear. A good time was had by all.

Fashion Curriculum Head Christine Robson said, " The fashion lecturing staff are extremely proud of the students who planned and organised the show in conjunction with Lisa Bray from Picante. They worked hard as a team to make the event a success and dealt well with problems to be solved in what was a fairly complex show. This is excellent learning for the competitive world of fashion after graduation. The students personalities shone in their collections and really showed us creativity at its best."

Two fashion shows on one night . . . Fife fashion week?

Last night we had two fashion shows from Adam Smith College students simultaneously in Fife, both were a great success.

Here are some of the images from The Abbey Hotel Fashion Show. This was a charity event organised by HND Events Management Students. It was wonderful, how so many different departments from the college collaborated to make this such a successful evening.

I am looking forward to seeing the HND's show.

Thank you to everyone for all your work and enthusiasm.

Strands of thought

Sometimes thing's come together so wonderfully. Last weekend I made paper dresses for a friend's Hairdressing photo shoot. Kate (one of my students on Wednesday) mentioned a space age room in the college where she wanted to do a photo shoot and I thought yes lets all make paper dresses and use the theme of:

Yesterday we started this project using paper tablecloths and basing the designs on retro, current or imaginary detergent boxes. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will find ourselves in Kate's space age room all wearing paper dresses. The NC's have already made a great start.

Aarhus Fashion Show II, Hair and Beauty

Top, Top image: Our model with hair and make up finished
Top image: Yvonne and Susan working on our model's hair,
Middle image: Bernardette (maltese student) working on her model's makeup.
Bottom image: Aarhus technical college student working on her models hair.
A large part of presenting clothes at a fashion show is the styling of the models, their hair and beauty can make a vast difference. Because we were sharing our models we were not completely able to control this.
However we did have one model that Susan McGregor assisted by Yvonne Morrison designed the hair and makeup for, and it was wonderful to watch them and see their styling completing and complimenting the clothes.
