A photo shoot for Madam magazine March 2011 by photographer Matthew Brodie with art direction by 3D illustrator Hattie Newman, They wanted to make paper dresses and spent a week working on brown paper prototypes. I love the colours of this paper ribbon dress and the effect of all the loose strands.

"After all who's going to do laundry in space?" 1

Today was the first photo shoot of NC Fashion student's paper dresses. These dresses were designed with washing powder themes because of the statement a textile designer made in the 1960's, "After all who's going to do laundry in space?".
It has been a great project thank you, to all who took part. Tomorrow I will post the next batch of work and images.

Strands of thought

Sometimes thing's come together so wonderfully. Last weekend I made paper dresses for a friend's Hairdressing photo shoot. Kate (one of my students on Wednesday) mentioned a space age room in the college where she wanted to do a photo shoot and I thought yes lets all make paper dresses and use the theme of:

'After all, who is going to do the laundry in space?'

Yesterday we started this project using paper tablecloths and basing the designs on retro, current or imaginary detergent boxes. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will find ourselves in Kate's space age room all wearing paper dresses. The NC's have already made a great start.
