Martin Margiela

Maison Martin Margiela has been playing with notions of facade and creating flat forms, making the three dimensionality of clothing the human form two dimensional.

"Cut affects the overall silhouette, introducing a new sensuality and dimension to evening wear. The front is a flat rectangle, whilst the back reveals the woman's body - as if it has been vacuum formed. Trompe-i'oeil tan lines further play on the attributes of a woman in men's wardrobe."
