Josipa Stefanec

 Josipa Stefanec works across the genre's of art, design, costume and fashion, constructing form from ribbons of fabric. These ribbons were spirally stitched using a bias-cut technique which is similar to that used for making straw-hats. It results in various sized protruding cone shapes that change the silhouette and create soft undulating forms that are  both visually stimulating and tactile.

Milos Tomic

Fabric sketchbooks, scraps like in the Foundlings Museum collection or the explorations of Louise Bourgeois, fascinate me even more than a good 'paper' sketchbook that has been; handled, worked in, 'lived in'.
Fabric books especially when made from upcycled fabric, tea towels, ironing board covers and clothes, fabric that has been with people for a while has smell and textures of someones life imprinted on them, have a soul and a quality that gives me goose bumps, and it is with this sentiment that I am sharing the work of Milos Tomic and his 'Book of stains, holes and patches.'
In the hope that it will inspire you to make fabric sketchbooks, to gather fabric, and use this to work with in innovative, creative ways.

Christmas . . . cheap thrills

A 'cheap thrills' inspired photo shoot today with NC Fashion to kick start their ideas on hair, beauty and styling for the fashion show in April. As you can see ideas of Christmas were at the forefront of everyone's minds.

James Hock

Malaysian born James Hock graduated in accountancy from Sydney's Macquaire University and worked briefly as an auditor before making a move to London where James rapidly gained notoriety and fame in London's fringe club scene with his unique style and fashion.
Self taught at this stage James retrained at Kensington and Chelsea College to improve his technical skills.
James's designs are always pushing the boundaries of texture shape and proportion this with his love of incorporating obscure and mundane objects into his design makes James a unique and fascinating designer. Pieces pictured are from his SS2013 '0' collection.

Lv Ting's Grandfather

Liu Xianping, 72 is Lv Ting's magical grandfather, who now is the main model for Lv's fashion company Yuekou.
“He picked up one piece and tried to give some advice on how to mix and match. 
We thought it was fun so we started shooting," Lv Ting

Draw-In Light

Draw-In Light is a collaboration between two life time friends Harry Barford and Polly Wilkinson who both graduated from the University of Brighton with BA's in Printed Textiles with Business in 2008. In 2009 they set up their label having secured a studio free off charge for three months in Briton. From there they have had a meteoric and fantastic rise to success, mainly down to as Polly says "a freak accident" and lots of fun and hard work.
They responded to the call from Liberties for 'Best of British', queued from 5am in the morning and following their interview they had a studio visit where Liberties placed a big order.

Cheap thrills

It is almost Christmas but already I am thinking of Easter.
We have been requested to produce a fashion show with work by our NC fashion students and it is to have a metallic element inspired by the decorative foils of Easter eggs.

The styling of this fashion shoot by Lena Kholkina and Natasha Lyubchenko for New Wave fashion editorial is perfect . . . time to collect Christmas decorations for Easter.

Silk - Elsbeth Joy Nielsen

'Designer Elsbeth Joy Nielsen from the Netherlands has discovered a way of producing silk without killing silkworms. Normally the worms die when their cocoons are boiled to loosen the silk; Nielsen's technique allows them to create a patch of pure silk while crawling back and forth over a platter looking for a place to build their cocoons. Once the panel is complete, they are left to pupate naturally. The resulting scarf demonstrates the material's exquisite beauty.'  Independent.

A stunningly beautiful fashion editorial for German magazine Gala Germany No47. It is so wonderful when so many creative forces can work together to create such beauty and this is the great quality of fashion, that it is such a collaborative creative field.
